Welcome to the Reception Class Webpage

On this page you will find lots of information about the staff, the children and the learning in Reception. There are usually photos of the children busy learning and some links to other websites which you may find useful.

Miss Collins is the Reception teacher at Dunster First School.

Mrs Newell teaches the children most Thursdays.

Support assistants are Mrs Redman, Mrs Evans, Miss Turton and Mr Hardie.

During their time in Reception, the children spend most of their days learning through play and by exploring the world around them.

We are always very busy in our classroom and outside in the local environment. Scroll down to find out what we have been up to.

Fire safety

We’ve been learning about fire safety and the job that a fire fighter does.
We thought of some questions we would ask if we met a fire fighter. Here are some of them.

Home Activities for children who are self isolating

Week beginning 15.11.21

Wake and Shake! The children will know lots of the moves we do for this. If they get stuck, suggest swimming, windmills, mashed potatoes, lasso, flashy fingers, fairy dust, spiderman and chicken wings, ducks and birdies. We do this every day!

Some singing- action and counting songs

PE- Cosmic Yoga

Outdoor Learning

See if you can have a look around your garden ad make a home for a minibeast. Can you take a photo of it?  Can you tke a picture with a creature inside it? Make as many as you like...

After colouring some stars, can you get a grown up to cut a star from a potato, get some paint and do some printing?

With some sweeties, have a go at counting groups of sweets (up to six) by touching each one as you count. Try counting two groups and say where there are more and where there are less. You could try this with raisins, or counters, cars, teddy bears, anything you fancy.

Art- finding out about Jackson Pollock

Have a go at the activities on the website. Then, if you have any, mix up some runny paint and try your own splatter paintings. This can be done outside to limit the danger or redecorating the walls!
